And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus gives the Church the command to go into the world, sharing his gospel, making disciples while loving our neighbor. Mission is the work of the Church that accomplishes these things. All Christians are called to God’s Mission. This page describes just some of the ways Mission is done by our congregation.
ONE CHURCH – ONE CHILD
The Women of Union along with the YOUth groups YOU Church and K.I.D.S. show the love of God by participating in One Church – One Child. The Rowan County One Church One Child Program is a mission/outreach program designed to make a difference in the lives of children and families needing support or assistance.
ROWAN HELPING MINISTRIES
One Sunday per month, volunteers from Union Lutheran Church serve a hearty warm and home cooked meal for those who must spend the night at the local shelter. In addition, there are many opportunities to collect funds for Rowan Helping Ministries and to gather food and clothing for the food pantry.
